About Puddle Jumpers

Puddle Jumpers was an idea born out of love and a desire to provide “something better” for my nephews, Ralph (4 years old at the time) and Walter (2 years old at the time) Croom, as well as other children.  Ralph and Walter were both in another day care in early 2005 and, in getting to know many of the women who worked there, my sister (and subsequently me) found out that the environment there was not what we had expected.  So…..with a little bit of planning…a whole lot of luck….and much love, we created Puddle Jumpers.  The name came from a pair of green rain boots that I bought for Ralph when he was about 18 months old.  He wore them with everything…diapers, shorts, swim trunks, pajamas…you name it.

The “something better” that we created is evident the moment you walk through the front door.  You instantly know that you have arrived “home” to a “family”….in every sense of the word.  Having to leave your child in the care of someone else is a hard thing to do for most parents.  It doesn’t take long for our parents to know that their child/children are being cared for by someone who loves them like they would love their own.
For someone like me, who didn't think that I could have children when I first opened Puddle Jumpers, being allowed to love so many children and provide a place and an experience that will mold their lives is a blessed gift.  A gift that me and my “family” of 22 of the most loving care givers thank God for every day.
